Places of Interest
| Mediterranean beaches | There is a good choice of beaches
between 20-40 minutes' drive away. Argeles with its long sandy beach,
picturesque Collioure with its castle and art galleries, and Banyuls
with its wide sweeping bay and backdrop of mountains and vineyards. |

| Perpignan (20-30 mins) | Historic city, former capital of
the Kings of Majorca, with its palm-tree-lined river promenade, 14th
century Cathedral of St Jean and the Palace of the Kings of Majorca, the
oldest royal palace in France

| The Tech Valley | A drive further along the valley
will take you to Amelie les Bains, bustling spa town, Gorges du
Mondonny, Arles sur Tech with its 11th century church of Ste
Marie, Gorges de la Fou, the world's narrowest gorge, and on to Prats
de Mollo, 1000 year old town with its picturesque old quarter and
fort, set on the slopes of Mount Canigou.

| Spain | 10 minutes away is the Spanish border and a short drive from
there will take you to the beaches of the Costa Brava or places of
interest such as Figueres with its fascinating Dali museum. 2 hours
from the house will take you as far as Barcelona.

Best approached from
Prades, former home of Pablo Casals and renowned for its music
festivals, and the monasteries of St Michel de Cuxa and St
Martin du Canigou. Don't miss a visit to Les Orgues at Ille
sur Tet on the way, the amazing limestone pinnacles known as the Organ
Pipes.

| For a
spectacular train ride, take the Little Yellow Train from
Villefranche-de-Conflent on narrow gauge tracks through gorges and across
towering viaducts.
The numerous other places further afield include the perfectly preserved medieval city of Carcassonne, and the awe inspiring castles of Cathar Country. |
